NOTD: China Glaze Millennium + Techno

Good morning!

I wanted to show you one of the manis that I might be sporting for NYE. A friend of mine might be coming down from Birmingham to watch the Beach Ball Drop. I haven’t seen this friend in well over a year, so I’m hoping plans go as scheduled. 🙂

Millennium is the silver base you see. I have the hardest time painting my nails with these mirror-type-finish polishes because I always wind up streaking them. Probably why you won’t see a swatch of Millennium by itself any time soon LoL. However, it does make an excellent stamping polish.

Now Techno… that is the holographic blingtastic glitter you see before you. It is large hex holographic glitter as well as small regular holo glitter in a clear base. This is approximately three coats I’ve got going on here (the larger pieces were not wanting to deposit onto my nails). It will probably never build up into something you can wear by itself.

I received Techno from my blogger Secret Santa (thank you Bridget!!!!!).

Enjoy and have a safe New Year’s Eve. 🙂

P.S. I figured I’d do the public service announcement:

Tipsy Tow offered by AAA: You don’t have to be a AAA member, from 6pm-6am on New Year’s Eve/Day they will take your drunken self and your car home for FREE. Save this number… 1-800-222-4357.

NOTD: China Glaze Party Hearty

Good morning and Happy Holidays y’all.

I’ve been really lax this holiday season. There’s many reasons, but mostly it has to do with the hubs being in our new house in New Jersey, and I’m still stuck in Florida. This is the first time we’ve had to miss our wedding anniversary (5 years) and chrimmas. So being unable to snap out of the funk, I’ve not been able to dazzle and blow your minds with nail art (even though I originally had some nifty-ness lined up). Maybe I can save it for next year if it’s still relevant. 😉

Anyhow, I wanted to show you guys China Glaze’s Party Hearty–another one of those polishes I got last year that I was never able to show.

Party Hearty is large red hex, small green hex (at least they look hex-shaped. I’ve got my face pressed against my nail and that is what i see), and silver (maybe gold too, I can’t tell) microglitter. Literally a party in a bottle. 😀

But I wanted to show you just how versatile it really is:

Thumb- over gold, Index- over basecoat, Middle- over silver, Ring- over white, Pinky- over black

These swatches are all three coats over different colors (except the index was just over basecoat, so you get an idea of how it looks on it’s own).

I really like how the silver and gold turned out. By the way, that’s China Glaze Millenium & Julep Sienna.

BUT I have to say, my new favorite way of wearing Party Hearty comes via Nicole of Nightly Nails fame:

PEPPERMINT BARK!!! Which also happens to be my favorite holiday candy.

Incidentally, this is my first glitter sammich too. Ha!

Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

NOTD: China Glaze Little Drummer Boy

Hey everyone. Hope your holiday season is going well. 🙂

This would be another one of those polishes from China Glaze’s 2010 holiday collection that I never got to spot light.

Please excuse my index nubbin. This is what I've been dealing with the past few weeks. Traumatizing.

Little Drummer Boy is that navy blue that I love so much. This time, instead of a creme, it’s a shimmer. Just lovely IMHO.

By the way, this is a one-coat wonder. What you see here is just one coat and a coat of Seche. IKR? Blew my socks off too.

I know what you’re thinking: “This would make a great stamping base for some Konad and Konad accessories.”

And you’d be right. I tried all ten fingers trying to get a full-nail design to come out. It was so bad that I can’t even show them to you. You’d never be able to tell what they were supposed to be.

More practice for me (._. )

Enjoy!

NOTD: China Glaze Sugar Plums

So it’s only been 10 days since I last posted. That’s a record right? (._.  )

I have several of 2010’s ‘Tis the Season holiday polishes from China Glaze that I never got around to wearing (don’t worry, I’m ashamed). One of these beauties is Sugar Plums.

So I decided that I would start showing off those polishes which I could not show off last year. 🙂

The elusive right-handed pose. :O

Sugar Plums has a maroon (mulberry? I don’t think of it as plum. Maybe an overripe plum…) base which is packed full of silverish microglitter. On further inspection, the glitter reflects a lot of colors, so it could be holo-ish. 🙂

This is just three coats and two coats of Seche Vite. It dries really bumpy, so thick topcoat is a must-have for me.

I never do this pose either... I think my pinky looks really short in comparison to the other fingers. And my fingers look weird-shaped. :\

I love how this polish looks lit from within. It’s dark on the sides and lighter in the center.

I really dig this color and I hate that I waited so long to wear it. Vampies always have a special place in my heart. ❤

Enjoy!

P.S. The sun was playing peek-a-boo today, and you can tell how the sky is gray instead of that bright blue that it usually is.

NOTD: Julep Michelle

Hey there!

I decided that, since it was the holiday season and this color screams holiday to me, I would finally show you what came in my Maven box for November (I paused my December box, so you’ll get a small break lol).

Michelle is that perfect navy blue creme. It always looks blue, never black. Did I tell y’all that navy blue is my favorite color? I kind of ruined it when I made my first wedding bridesmaids wear it, but the hell with it–I’m taking it back. (The dresses were freaking sexy-hot though).

This three coats with a coat of Seche. The blue background you’ve been seeing for the last few posts? That’s the sky outside.

Gratuitous shot. Oh yeah, you’ll probably be seeing this color again as the backdrop for nail art later in the month. 🙂

And because navy blue and silver is one of my all-time favorite color combinations, I’ve got a silver glitter gradient for you:

Ahh… metallic snowfall. I love it.

Do y’all know that I don’t own a plain silver glitter polish? I have gold and holo out the wazoo, but no silver. I did this with a nail art striper.

Enjoy!
