Blast from the Past: China Glaze Joy

I was digging through my stash drawers looking for something reflective of my mood and that I hadn’t shown before.Β I found China Glaze Joy.

Joy was released as part of the Spring 2009 Romantique collection. So I’ve been hanging onto it for a bit, apparently.

I’m really digging the muted tone and semi-reflective shine. I think it fits well with my autumnal-into-chrimmas state of mind.

Application was a bit tricky–it can drag if you do too many strokes. This is two coats and a top coat. I let each one dry pretty well before starting the next to avoid bald spots.

Can’t stop staring at my nails. πŸ™‚

NOTD: China Glaze Millennium + Techno

Good morning!

I wanted to show you one of the manis that I might be sporting for NYE. A friend of mine might be coming down from Birmingham to watch the Beach Ball Drop. I haven’t seen this friend in well over a year, so I’m hoping plans go as scheduled. πŸ™‚

Millennium is the silver base you see. I have the hardest time painting my nails with these mirror-type-finish polishes because I always wind up streaking them. Probably why you won’t see a swatch of Millennium by itself any time soon LoL. However, it does make an excellent stamping polish.

Now Techno… that is the holographic blingtastic glitter you see before you. It is large hex holographic glitter as well as small regular holo glitter in a clear base. This is approximately three coats I’ve got going on here (the larger pieces were not wanting to deposit onto my nails). It will probably never build up into something you can wear by itself.

I received Techno from my blogger Secret Santa (thank you Bridget!!!!!).

Enjoy and have a safe New Year’s Eve. πŸ™‚

P.S. I figured I’d do the public service announcement:

Tipsy Tow offered by AAA: You don’t have to be a AAA member, from 6pm-6am on New Year’s Eve/Day they will take your drunken self and your car home for FREE. Save this number… 1-800-222-4357.

Swatched: Julep Sienna

This might currently have the title for my favorite Julep nail polish to date.

When I opened up my October box, I knew I was going to love it. It looked like liquid gold rolling around inside the bottle.

Sienna is a neutral gold foil. It applied like butter, and only where I put it.

This is three coats without topcoat. It shines like crazy. I blinded myself a few times trying to get my nails angled with the sun.

Β It was so reflective that my camera kind of freaked out telling me that it couldn’t photograph LoL. But I made it anyhow!

Do I recommend this one? Yep. I love it. I need a pink one just like it.

Julep polishes retail for $14, and can be purchased from It seems a little pricey, but $1.00 of each nail color purchase is donated to charity. See more information about this at their website.

31 Days of Halloween- Day 16: Spooky Owl Nails

Or cute. Depends on your point of view. Ha. πŸ™‚

This design is based off of IHaveACupcake’s Owl Nail Art YouTube video. I recommend checking out this talented lady’s designs.

I first began by deciding what the color of my owls would be. I wanted them more creepy and realistic, so I chose a brownish gray–Orly Sea Gurl from their Birds of a Feather collection:

Two coats, no top coat

Then I painted the wings with Orly’s Nite Owl–also from Birds of a Feather collection. (Nite Owl… how serendipitous lol). I used my largest dotting tool to make the base of the eyes in China Glaze Ingrid.

I took a nail art striper in a golden orange and made the beaks and feathers. Black creme makes the eyes and the golden orange finishes them nicely. I used the same black creme to add angry eyebrows LoL.

Apply a top coat and you’re done. πŸ˜€

I also wanted to thank everyone who entered the Halloween haiku giveaway. Judging is going on as we speak (or as you read). I will notify the winner ASAP. Β πŸ˜€

NOTD: Zoya Dannii

I got in a lot of nail mail today. I woke up, and it was sitting on my desk.

Yeehaw, I say.

This is Zoya Dannii from the recent Intimates collection. I’ve been eyeballing this girl for a while, and I’m really glad I decided to get it when Zoya was doing their Earth Day promotion. I got five other colors too. Β :X

This is three coats and a coat of Seche Vite. It’s easily a two-coater, but I sorta messed one up and had to put a 3rd coat on. My bad.

I may have to miss Pink Wednesday tomorrow because I just don’t want to take this off.
