NOTD: Orly Fowl Play

Good goddess, I am lazy.

I figured I’d get off my butt and show y’all this polish before the seasons changed. The winter solstice is coming up soon. Y’all got your holly (yule) logs ready to burn?

Unfortunately, it’s not just lazy that’s been holding me down. It’s being mopey too. I gotta get over that, otherwise the house will come crashing down around my ears. The hubs will be gone for at least three weeks, and this is barely day 3. Le sigh.

Anyhow, I’ve been meaning to show you this for months now. October was busy (of course), but I’ve worn it since then. Finally, I wore it again for Thanksgiving at my brother’s house (where I knew it would go unappreciated. But they can’t help that).

Fowl Play is from the Birds of a Feather collection released for Fall 2011. It’s a purple jelly base packed full of vibrant flakies (FLAKIES!).

I usually layer this polish over a purple base (such as Purple Nurple), but I decided to wear & show it to you on it’s own. This is three coats with a coat of Seche.

I must apologize for the condition of my hands and nails. They are quite dry during the winter. Usually no amount of moisturizing gets them to behave. :\

Enjoy!

Swatched: Julep Sienna

This might currently have the title for my favorite Julep nail polish to date.

When I opened up my October box, I knew I was going to love it. It looked like liquid gold rolling around inside the bottle.

Sienna is a neutral gold foil. It applied like butter, and only where I put it.

This is three coats without topcoat. It shines like crazy. I blinded myself a few times trying to get my nails angled with the sun.

It was so reflective that my camera kind of freaked out telling me that it couldn’t photograph LoL. But I made it anyhow!

Do I recommend this one? Yep. I love it. I need a pink one just like it.

Julep polishes retail for $14, and can be purchased from www.julep.com. It seems a little pricey, but $1.00 of each nail color purchase is donated to charity. See more information about this at their website.

Pink Wednesdays: BB Couture Scorching Strawberry

Good morning everyone!

I am super excited about this polish. You might recall that I won it in a giveaway hosted by Nicole at Nightly Nails. And it’s also the first BB Couture polish that I’ve ever owned (shameful, I KNOW).

When I saw it on her nails, I knew that I had to have it. Luck just happened to be on my side when she did the drawing. 😀

Without further ado, Scorching Strawberry:

The bottle color is more accurate.

This polish is a blue-toned pink jelly, which works well with my skin tone.

In the bottle, there is fine silver shimmer. It doesn’t really show up on the nails, though.

This is three coats and a coat of SV.

I wore this polish around for about three days. Then, when I got bored, I did a glitter gradient with Sinful Colors Frenzy and wore it for another few days. 😀

BB Couture polishes can be picked up from Overall Beauty. I highly recommend them. Kim (owner) is a complete sweetheart. 🙂

Swatched: Julep Keira

I’m trying to get out of my lazy slump.

With hubby going to Massachusetts for three weeks to train on his new job, I’ve been kind of moping around. Then there’s the business trying to find somewhere to live where we’re relocating. If you follow me on Twitter, you know that’s New Jersey.

If you follow me in real life, you know that I am Southern through and through and I am really nervous. I have never lived farther north than Birmingham, AL (hush). I have visited all up and down the East Coast, but never stayed for very long. So this is going to be a huge change for me.

Anywhoodle.

I thought it was past time to show you one of the polishes that came in my October Julep Maven box. October was already booked solid though, so now is the time. 🙂

This is Keira, which is a deep red/maroon/mulberry creme.

It applies very well, and I had zero problems with it.

Sorry for the odd position. Hubby had to take this with the new camera & apparently, I didn't hold my hand correctly.

This is three coats without top coat.

Also in October’s box was another color (which I will show later this week) and the Glow On Age Defying Hand Brightener. I keep wondering when they’re going to send a topcoat to go with the basecoat they sent in the first box. 🙂

Enjoy!

Blast from the Past: RBL Scrangie

I decided to stop being a lazy heifer and actually post something for you guys’ enjoyment.

I’ve worn Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Scrangie many times since I picked it up last year. This is the first higher-end polish that I ever owned. And I couldn’t wait until it arrived so I could put it on. 😀

You can tell how long I’ve been hanging onto this picture–it has the old watermark. 🙂

Anyhow, Scrangie is a lovely purple packed full of iridescent green shimmer. It applies like a freaking dream. The above is probably three coats with a coat of SV.

I’ve never had even an ounce of buyer’s remorse over this product. I think Ji did a wonderful job capturing Scrangie’s polish vision and bringing it to life.
