Blast from the Past: China Glaze 2NITE

This is China Glaze 2NITE from the OMG collection. It’s a blue holo. And it’s awesome.

This is the only polish that I currently own from that collection. Currently. If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I’ve been dusty diving like a madwoman trying to find more from this collection. I refuse to give up on you, do you HEAR ME??!

I’ve also enlisted the help of some of my friends that live in other cities, without much luck. If you’d like to participate in the search?… LoL.

Anyway, if you can get your paws on this, I highly recommend doing just that.

Swatch: China Glaze Crackle Glazes pt 3

Ok, so this is the last installment of the China Glaze Crackle Glazes that I have for you. If you missed Part One or Part Two, click the respective linkage. Now, on to the picture… 🙂

This is Crushed Candy over Purple Nurple.

I didn’t pick up the white crackle called Lightning Bolt. I just didn’t want it. I couldn’t foresee myself using it, so it got put to the back of the line. I may pick it up one day before Sally’s runs out of it (I know the one in Biloxi will have it at least until the beginning of March because the display isn’t even out yet). But I’m just as likely to not pick it up.

And because my darling friend Becky asked me to show the gray crackle (Cracked Concrete) over a purple, here are two examples on my thumb:

These were shot under an OttLite, but they’re fairly accurate. I like the dark better.

Nail Art: Mardi Gras style

I’m super excited to show you two of the designs that were swirling around my brain this week.

As you probably know, we’re in the midst of the Mardi Gras parade season where I live (with Mardi Gras being on March 8 this year). What you may not know is that even though Mobile’s Mardi Gras parades are not as well known as New Orleans’, they came first.

You heard correctly. Mobile began celebrating Mardi Gras in 1703, before New Orleans was founded. And between you and me, I like Mobile’s parades better. New Orleans’ parades are better left to the tourists… and to the drunk college kids who feel the need to wave their respective junk around to get beads (or molested).

But I digress.

I have for you today a mask and beads design layered over Purple Nurple from yesterday’s post.

I started out painting the mask (ring finger) with various nail polishes and a striper brush. I didn’t like the way it was turning out, so I whipped out the little bullion beads that I had ordered from the Born Pretty Store. I should have started out with using them, but hey… you live and learn.

Then, I was tinkering with the idea of using a dotting tool to make the beads that are often thrown from the floats (index finger). But then, I decided to use the bullion beads once again (because they’re nifty). The square rhinestones came from Sally’s.

NOTD: Oke.Doke. Purple Nurple

This is a brand I had never heard of until I walked into Rite Aid one day. And I totally had to buy it because the color is called Purple Nurple. Pretty sure I was giggling like a maniac the rest of the day.

Luckily, the shade is gorgeous. It’s a royal purple with pink and blue microglitter. It shows up on the nail too, not just in the bottle– so, bonus. Please ignore the weird pink reflection in the picture of the bottle. I assure you that’s my screw up.

There’s a reason I’m showing this today. It’s the perfect base color for my Mardi Gras nail art ideas that I’ve been tossing around in my head. So I figured I’d show you the polish before I cover it with extra awesomeness.

Part two of my China Glaze Crackle Glaze swatches includes Cracked Concrete (gray) and Black Mesh (which is… black).

These are both swatched over ***my own franken, Electric Cherries*** which I am still super excited about!!!

In my not-so-humble opinion, the Black Mesh reminds me of my childhood in the 80’s. I am pretty sure I had one of those short skirts with attached leggings in that same pattern.

To me, the gray looks more modern and edgy. I likes it.
